Record Description

Completed in Rome around 80 AD, the Colosseum could seat tens of thousands of spectators and remains the largest amphitheatre ever constructed, ancient or modern. Nearly 2,000 years after it was built, it is still the standard against which other stadiums and arenas are measured.
