First Intercontinental Suspension Bridge

Opened in 1973, the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul was the first suspension bridge ever built to physically link two continents, joining the European and Asian sides of the city across the Bosphorus Strait. It remains one of only a handful of bridges in the world that cross between continents.
