Historically the World's Busiest Port

The Port of Rotterdam was the busiest port in the world by cargo tonnage for several decades in the 20th century before being overtaken in the 1990s and 2000s by fast-growing Asian ports such as Singapore and Shanghai. It remains by far the largest seaport in Europe.
