World's Largest Solid Gold Statue

Housed at Wat Traimit temple in Bangkok, this seated Buddha image is cast from an estimated 5.5 tonnes of solid gold, making it the largest solid gold statue in the world by Guinness World Records recognition. Its true nature was hidden under plaster for centuries until it was accidentally revealed in 1955.
