The Karakoram Highway links Pakistan and China over the Khunjerab Pass, which sits at roughly 4,700 meters above sea level and is recognized as the highest paved international border crossing anywhere. Carved through some of the world's most extreme mountain terrain, the route is often nicknamed the "Eighth Wonder of the World."
