Record Description
The shoreline of the Dead Sea, on the border of Israel, the West Bank and Jordan, sits roughly 440 meters below sea level, making it the lowest point of dry land anywhere on Earth. Its extremely high salt content means almost nothing can survive in its waters. The lake's surface level continues to drop by roughly a meter each year.
