Record Description

Israeli engineer Dov Moran and his company M-Systems developed the DiskOnKey, launched in 2000 with IBM as the first commercially sold USB flash drive. It held just 8 megabytes of storage but helped replace the floppy disk within a few years and set the template for flash drives used today. Moran later sold M-Systems to SanDisk for roughly 1.6 billion dollars.
