Record Description
The Rio-Antirrio Bridge, opened in August 2004 just before the Athens Olympics, spans the Gulf of Corinth with a cable-stayed deck stretching roughly 2,252 meters across four pylons anchored in deep, earthquake-prone seabed. At the time of its completion it was cited as the longest multi-span cable-stayed bridge of its kind in the world. It replaced a ferry crossing that had connected the Peloponnese to mainland Greece.
