Record Description

Kanchenjunga straddles the border of eastern Nepal and India's Sikkim state and reaches about 8,586 meters, ranking as the third-tallest mountain on Earth after Everest and K2. It was long believed to be the world's highest peak before more accurate surveys in the 1850s corrected its ranking. Its name translates to roughly "Five Treasures of the Snow," referring to its five distinct summits.
