Former Record Holder for Most Everest Summits

Sherpa mountaineer Apa Sherpa summited Mount Everest 21 times between 1990 and 2011, holding the world record for most ascents for years before Kami Rita Sherpa eventually surpassed it. He later became an advocate for climate change awareness tied to the shrinking Himalayan glaciers he witnessed. His climbs spanned two decades of high-altitude guiding work.
