Record Description
The small mountain airstrip at Lukla, officially Tenzing-Hillary Airport, sits at about 2,845 meters elevation with a short, steeply sloped runway that ends at a cliff drop on one side and a mountain wall on the other. It serves as the main gateway for trekkers heading toward Everest Base Camp. Aviation documentaries and travel outlets have repeatedly rated it the world's most extreme or dangerous airport.
