Largest Blue Star Sapphire in the World

A gem cutter in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka's main gem-mining town, unearthed a blue star sapphire weighing 1,404.49 carats in 2015, roughly double the size of the previous record holder. The stone was certified by the Gemmological Institute of Colombo and named the Star of Adam. It remains the largest gem-quality blue star sapphire ever documented.
