Record Description
Plunging from the edge of the Auyan-tepui plateau in Venezuela's Canaima National Park, Angel Falls drops a total of 979 meters, including an uninterrupted single drop of 807 meters, making it the tallest waterfall on Earth. It was brought to international attention in 1933 by American aviator Jimmie Angel, whose surname the falls now carry, though local indigenous people had long known the site by another name. Guinness World Records recognizes it as both the tallest waterfall overall and the tallest single drop.
